Porto Santo Network of Protected Marine Areas

The Porto Santo Network of Protected Marine Areas comprises the areas of the six islets around this island, namely, the islets of Cenouras, de Baixo or Cal, de Cima, de Fora or Rocha do Nordeste, Fonte da Areia and Ferro, and the marine area surrounding the islets of Cal and Cima, including the spot where the shipwreck of O Madeirense lies.
 
Porto Santo is characterised by its great and rich geological diversity, from the scientific, tourist and educational point of view, features that give this tourist destination a very peculiar geomorphology, displaying unique geological formations, such as the emblematic example of the Pico da Ana Ferreira..
